This is the last week specialist studies project and I finally finished my reconstruction for my horror film of the ‘Conjuring 2’ I ended up booking some equipment from the college to help me achieve creating this. I booked a DLSR Camera and a tripod if I needed it to help me. I just threw on a blue dressing gown and a pink t-shirt. it took me about an hour and a half to film to complete reconstruction. I had to have some help with the filming so I asked my sister if she could help me and she agreed. I did end up reshooting a few scenes because I forgot my lines or did the wrong thing. Once I got the college a few days later I started to edit my reconstruction
I edited everything on the software premiere pro in my media class after my maths exam. I started the film with the TV and I added some effects to the clips to make it retro or a VHS tape. As the tv was quite old fusion and I had a new 2019 plasma tv so there was a issue there. I added effects like brightness and contrast, emboss, colour emboss (hls), directional blur, shadow/highlight, noise, dust and scratches and wave warp. how I knew how to do this was that I went onto YouTube and it helped a lot. I did this for 2 scenes for the tv and then for the rest of the visual I turned down the brightness (10.0) and contrast (-25.0) to make it look like a old film and also in the original film there isn’t a lot of lighting to see. I also added some of the audio from the film to make it similar to the original clip. the duration was about 52 seconds which is isn’t far from one minute. Once I finish the video I uploaded it to YouTube to post on here
To be Improved:
What I feel like I could have improved about the filming is that in some scenes the camera was waving from side to side which I could focus on when I start my fmp. I was trying to pan the camera from the telephone to myself which was quite difficult as I had to do it a number of times. There is one scene where it looked to the left and then I cut it to myself looking the other way which is quite confusing for the audience. I could try to focus on something about the angles I choose for my own horror movie.
what I feel like I could have improved about my editing is the sound because there are some parts where you can’t hear my breathing heavily and some of the audio was out of place. I could have also made the scenes of the tv a bit clearer so the colours could come out a bit more.
If I was to create this again in the future I would focus more on how I shoot the film and the perfect angles that would go with it.
